Customer Need: Restore power after a fallen tree damaged the home’s overhead electrical service
Beeson Mechanical Team: Kent, Steve, and the Beeson Mechanical electrical team
Project Overview
A severe Friday storm caused a tree to fall onto a home in Whiteland, Indiana. The impact damaged the overhead electrical service and left the homeowner without power.
The fallen tree took out the service pipe running above the roof, pulled the electrical conductors out of the meter box, and damaged the lugs inside the meter equipment. The weatherhead, overhead wiring to the meter, and the wire support also needed to be replaced.
Although much of the house was sheathed, the main electrical panel appeared to remain in good condition.
Beeson Mechanical responded quickly, evaluated the damage, and developed a plan to rebuild the home’s overhead electrical service while completing a 200-amp upgrade.

The Challenge
This was not a simple power outage caused by a tripped breaker.
The fallen tree damaged several parts of the home’s electrical service at the same time. The service pipe above the roof had been taken out, the conductors had been pulled from the meter box, and the meter-box lugs were broken.
The home also needed a new weatherhead, replacement wiring between the weatherhead and meter, and a new wire support to secure the overhead service connection.
Because the storm had left the home without power, the homeowner needed the work completed as quickly as possible. At the same time, each damaged component needed to be evaluated carefully so the electrical service could be restored properly.
The team also inspected the main panel and determined that it appeared to remain in acceptable condition. That helped focus the project on the storm-damaged exterior service equipment and the planned 200-amp upgrade.
The Beeson Mechanical Solution
Kent, Steve, and the Beeson Mechanical team assessed the storm damage and organized the repairs needed to rebuild the overhead electrical connection.
The project included:
- Installing a new weatherhead
- Replacing the damaged above-ground wiring to the meter
- Replacing the wire support
- Addressing the damaged meter-box connection and broken lugs
- Rebuilding the damaged overhead service
- Setting up the home with a 200-amp electrical service upgrade
From the initial response through the completion of the project, the team moved quickly and kept the work progressing.
That fast response was especially important because the homeowner had been without power since the Friday storm.
The Result
The homeowner received a completed 200-amp service upgrade and a rebuilt overhead electrical service after the tree damage.
Beeson Mechanical addressed the damaged service pipe, weatherhead, meter connection, overhead conductors, and wire support while preserving the panel equipment that didn’t appear to require replacement.
Just as important, the homeowner felt that the project was handled quickly from beginning to end during a stressful outage.

Customer Feedback
“Kent, Steve, and the rest of the team have been great! Storm on Friday took out our power and they did an awesome job setting up our 200A upgrade. They were fast from the beginning to the end. Highly recommend.”
Why This Project Matters
Storm damage to a home’s electrical service can affect more than one visible component.
A fallen tree or heavy limb may damage the service pipe or mast, weatherhead, overhead conductors, meter equipment, attachment points, and other parts of the connection between the utility service and the home.
Even when the main panel appears to remain in good condition, damaged exterior equipment still needs to be identified and repaired before the home can have a secure and dependable electrical connection again.
This project shows why a complete electrical evaluation matters after a tree strikes a home’s service equipment.
For this Whiteland homeowner, Beeson Mechanical provided one local team to assess the damage, rebuild the overhead service, and move the home forward with a 200-amp upgrade.
